You may have noticed a new PS5 software update appear on your TV. It’s one of Sony’s smaller updates for the PlayStation 5, and the July 1 patch notes list has been revealed.
It’s been a while since we had a significant PS5 update. The April 23 patch notes simply added message-reaction emojis for message reactions and improved the overall user-friendliness of the feature.
The July 1 update does even less, but here’s a quick look at what it does.

Sony has confirmed that with Update 26.04-13.42.00. ‘We’ve improved system software performance and stability.’
This follows the recent Version: 26.04-13.40.00 Update, which offered owners pretty much the same improvements.
There’s nothing else, and it’s a very minor update, as I said. It’s pretty much a routine update to improve overall console performance and fix any minor hitches in the system that are so small they’re not even worth officially mentioning by the company.

It could also be designed to prep the PlayStation 5 system for a more substantial, impending update. We know that Sony is Beta Testing a new PlayStation 5 UI, so we’ll see if this ends up being connected somehow.
