The PlayStation 5 Pro is set to change the landscape for gaming hardware – at least until the next generation surfaces. On paper, it’s an incredible machine, and if it launches when intended, it could be sitting at the top of Christmas lists the world over. The PlayStation 5 Pro specs are tantalising at first blush, but a deep dive reveals that they’re going to take the base PlayStation 5 and wipe the floor with it.

  • 33.5 Teraflops
  • PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution Upscaling) upscaling/antialiasing solution
  • Support for resolutions up to 8K is planned for future SDK version
  • Custom machine learning architecture
  • AI Accelerator, supporting 300 TOPS of 8-bit computation / 67 TFLOPS of 16-bit floating point

It was also confirmed recently that devkits have been shared with first-party studios as far back as September 2023 – and by Spring 2024, the final product will be available exclusively for those making the games for this tech titan of a console.
