With its release still planned for 2026, developers Funselektor Labs and Strelka Games have revealed a new biome for their upcoming off-road exploration game over the hill.
Shown during Thursday’s Triple I Initiative showcase, players got their first look at the new Algeria biome that they can explore. The biome features an open desert, mountains to traverse, and even ancient ruins to discover.
In over the hill, you take control of vintage 4×4 vehicles, exploring environments that are inspired by real-world wilderness. Rather than have a designated path to follow, the game allows you to choose your own route, where you’ll have to “read the terrain and figure out how to reach the next looking when the road disappears.
“Traverse rivers, climb steep rock faces, and winch your friends out of impossible situations in drop-in co-op,” Funselektor says. “Every vehicle handles differently, every surface reacts to weight and momentum, and every journey becomes a small story you create together.”
As you play, you’ll be able to unlock new vehicles and even customize your setup.
“Over the hill is about exploration, freedom, and the joy of the drive,” they said.
In addition to the new biome, it was announced that a playtest will be taking place from April 24-26. Players interested can sign up for the playtest by visiting Funselektor’s website. Registration is open until April 16,
