The Australian Classification Board has just rated 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
Players saw Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and 2 being rated earlier this year, and that eventually led to the release of current-gen ports for the game. These were not remasters or remakes, but did show up with some visible improvements on the PlayStation 5 and the XBOX Series X/S. Hopefully players can get something similar to Modern Warfare 2.
Modern Warfare 2 Rated 18+ in Australia
The Australian Classification Board rated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009) on October 1, 2026. It has received the classification of R 18+. The Consumer Advice category indicates it features high-impact drug use, in-game purchases, online interactivity, and chat. The rating doesn’t reveal what platforms it is for; it just mentions ‘Computer Game’. However, when a game is rated, it usually means it’s nearing release or an announcement.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was released for PC, XBOX 360, and PlayStation 3 in 2009. The story followed Task Force 141 as they hunted down the Russian ultranationalist, Vladimir Makarov. The game eventually received an HD remaster of the game’s story, which was released in 2020 for the PlayStation 4, XBOX One, and PC. It featured 4K, HDR and other bonus content, however it was restricted to story, with no new multiplayer mode.
