Modern Warfare 4 Devs Have Secretly Increased PvP in DMZ, It’s Claimed

DMZ in MW4 is a PvPvE affair—you against AI and real-world players. However, in the game’s beginning, you wouldn’t run into other players too often. The belief is that this has changed, and Infinity Ward has increased PvP in DMZ.

You fall into one of three camps with an extraction shooter: You prefer PvE, you love PvP, or you enjoy a mix of both. Anything involving other real players is obviously a lot more stressful, and many don’t enjoy it. With constant calls for a PvE option, reports of extra PvP could be detrimental for many of you DMZ lovers in Modern Warfare 4.

Has DMZ Been Upped in Modern Warfare 4?

According to a report from CharlieIntel, Infinity Ward has secretly tinkered with matchmaking in MW4 DMZ, making it so that PvP is a higher priority than it was before.

Here’s what the report claims:

‘Infinity Ward increased prioritization of PvP matchmaking in MW4 DMZ, sources familiar with the recent updates tells us.

The studio also adjusted story mission matchmaking to put players into a regular lobby if the players already completed the story mission, sources say.

CharlieIntel is one of the most-connected Call of Duty accounts in the world, so it’s not hard to believe. If this is true, and IW has done this in secret, it really highlights the lack of transparency between the developer and the community.

What other changes has IW made without telling anyone? It’s not the first time people have discovered something in MW4 without the devs saying anything. Despite not being advertised, Modern Warfare 4 has open matchmaking.

It might be addressed as we approach Season 1, and it was only enforced early to test it out. Late would be better than never as well, if Infinity Ward does mention it in the S1 patch notes, for example.

Hopefully, if PvP is increased, a PvE mode isn’t too far away.
