Baldur’s Gate 3 launches on PC on August 3, and players aren’t admittedly excited about all the things available within the game. One thing that isn’t available, however, is the ability to preload Baldur’s Gate 3 ahead of its launch. Nor is the ability to carry over Early Access game saves.
“The full release of the game weighs in at approximately 122 GB,” Larian wrote via Steam. Please note that your Early Access save games will not be compatible at launch; however, so much has changed that it’s really worth it to start afresh.”

It’s not all disappointing news, though. In addition to the requirement of a fresh install of the game at launch, it was confirmed that Baldur’s Gate 3 will run on Steam Deck.
“Yes, you can play Baldur’s Gate 3 on your Steam Deck at launch and it looks rad,” the studio said. “We are aiming for Steam Deck Verified by August 3’s launch date. It launches on Steam Deck with what we consider to be the most optimal graphics settings, but feel free to play around. You’ll be able to avail of full controller support, and split-screen will be disabled on Steam Deck.”
As far as the settings on the device go, Larian suggests trying out their recommended method of antialiasing for the best performance.
