Baldur’s Gate 3 Delayed on PS5, Brought Forward on PC

Baldur's Gate 3 PlayStation Plus

It has been revealed that Baldur’s Gate 3 will now have a split release window, launching at different times on both PlayStation and PC platforms. It’s still up in the air as to when it’s coming to Xbox Series X|S – but that’s a discussion for another day.

Now, Baldur’s Gate 3 will launch a little later than intended on PlayStation, with the game releasing on September 6th, 2023 – coinciding with the launch of Starfield on Xbox and PC. On PC platforms, the game will now launch almost a month earlier, dropping on August 3rd, 2023.

A Long Time Coming

It has been almost twenty years since we saw a brand-new major release in the Baldur’s Gate series. There are high expectations for Baldur’s Gate 3, and recent details have revealed just how ambitious a game this is. Speaking to Eurogamer.net, Michael Douse, an executive at Larian Studios, explained that there are 170 hours of cinematics alone in the game.

There are some technical difficulties preventing Baldur’s Gate 3 from being released on Xbox Series X|S platforms, but Larian has confirmed that it is still on the cards.

Here’s the latest Baldur’s Gate 3 trailer from Summer Game Fest:

Fans that have been playing the Early Access version of the game for some time now have been positive about the ongoing development of the game, with some stating that it has only gotten better with age. That sentiment is related in the comment section of the video embedded above.
