The popularity of Pokémon TCG Pocket shows no signs of slowing down, and while many of us are still yet to complete the existing sets, the next expansion is right around the corner.
A major update lies ahead for Pokémon TCG Pocket with a revamp to the trade feature. There’s still plenty going on in the game too, with the summer event and Twitch drops to secure.
We’re reaching the time where you should start to save your Pack Hourglasses, though, as we expect news on the next Pokémon TCG Pocket expansion to be imminent.
When is the Next Pokémon TCG Pocket Expansion?

The release date for the next Pokémon TCG Pocket expansion has not been officially announced. However, it’s expected to arrive on July 30.
The revamp to the trade feature coming in the next update may have inadvertently revealed the date for the next expansion. On top of this, past releases also point towards a July 30 release for the next set.
Eevee Grove, the most recent release, arrived in June, while each of the major expansions so far has also been released on the 30th: Genetic Apex in October (worldwide), Space-Time Smackdown in January, and Celestial Guardians in April.
Until an official announcement is made, which is likely to be during the Pokémon Presents stream, take it with a pinch of salt. It does appear to be the most likely release date, though.
What to Expect in the Next Pokémon TCG Pocket Expansion
The next Pokémon TCG Pocket expansion will be a major one, with the set split into at least two different booster packs. Each will contain different chase cards.
This approach was first seen with Genetic Apex, which had three packs, while Space-Time Smackdown and Celestial Guardians reduced this to two. It remains to be seen whether that change was to fit the theme, with the legendary Pokémon that feature on the artwork, or if this will be standard practice moving forward.
There aren’t too many details revealed for Pokémon TCG Pocket’s next expansion yet, but there’s plenty that could be done. Yhe game has stuck relatively safe with the cards released so far, with ex’s being the biggest hits in terms of battle mechanics, with full-art cards and immersive rares for those chasing style over substance.
With almost three decades of history and nine generations of Pokémon, there’s a lot that could be brought in. A Johto-themed set was previously expected, and would make sense to release this year due to it being the 25th anniversary of the Gold and Silver games. However, six of the nine Pokémon generations have largely not featured yet.
It depends on how tuned into the rest of the Pokémon franchise TCG Pocket wants to be. Everything else is seemingly launching full-force into Mega Pokémon with an imminent return in the physical TCG and Legends: Z-A.
There isn’t long to go until the point we expect to hear official news, fortunately, so all our questions should be answered soon.
