Shooter fans, FPS fans, DOOM fans, rejoice. An industry report claims that a new game is already in development, alleviating any fears and doubts stemming from the well-documented layoffs at id Software.
Life without DOOM isn’t living at all. The gap between DOOM 3 and DOOM (2016) was almost a sin, not quite an Icon of Sin, but you get the point. The recent reboot trilogy has been glorious, and DOOM fans have been eating good, and it looks set to continue with a new game.
DOOM Game Going Ahead, Despite XBOX Layoffs

According to Tom Warren of The Verge: ‘While the id layoffs have been deep, I understand the changes haven’t turned id into a support studio. Instead, they’re now in the early stages of a new Doom game.’
To catch you up: The XBOX layoffs saw 136 people let go at id Software.

They were described by affected employees as a ‘Bloodbath,’ and id Software released a statement following the layoffs.
Concerns arose that id Software had been gutted to the point that we wouldn’t be getting any new games developed by the studio.
These fears were dispelled as it was revealed that id Software’s team was much bigger than first thought, following the XBOX layoffs.

This latest report seems to double down on this, and it looks like we have more Imps, Cacodemons, and Hell Knights in our future again.
There were worries that the recent Revelations DLC might have been the last DOOM content for a while; thankfully, it’s not the case.
