NBA 2K24 Features Include A New City And ProPlay Technology

NBA 2K24 is set to launch on September 8, and with it comes new features for players on “new-gen” consoles like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

In the game’s listing on the PlayStation store, some new details were revealed about what the game will offer.

PlayStation 5 players will get an “all-new City” to explore that sits in a new tropical region.

“Take control of your legacy in MyCAREER and ascend from a generational talent to a Hall of Famer, chasing greatness and championships along the way,” 2K Sports says. “Explore a stunning tropical backdrop and flex your custom, personalized style in an all-new City, rich with optional side quests and sizzling streetball competition.”

ProPlay technology is also coming to the platform, which 2K Sports calls a “groundbreaking technology that directly translates NBA footage into NBA 2K24 gameplay”.

“[P]roPLAY delivers animations and movements via on-court NBA action for a generational leap in authenticity,” 2K Sports says.

Also confirmed after its reveal on Thursday is how crossplay will work. The feature will be available on the new-gen consoles only, meaning players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will be able to play against each other. What’s more is that crossplay will support all modes, per 2K.

For those on last-gen systems, crossplay isn’t available nor is the city or proPlay technology. Instead, you’ll still have a Neighborhood to explore.

One thing that will be available for both generations is the game’s Mamba Moments. This mode will see players “recreate Kobe’s most dominant and captivating performances during his rise to global superstardom.”

AEW: Fight Forever Is Getting a Bizarre Battle Royale Mode

I remember once putting forward the notion that not every game out there needed a battle royale mode. It was around the time that Forza Horizon and Fallout 76 marketed their own spins on the increasingly-popular genre, but my words were lost against the wave of franchises muscling their way into the niche. Now, in […]
