Who Is in Marvel Tōkon’s Year 1 DLC Roster?

Who is in Marvel Tōkon’s Year 1 DLC roster? Phoenix, Cyclops, Thor (Jane Foster), Venom, and Jubilee.

Arc System Works announced the new roster members on social media, using artwork by Marvel artist Peach Momoko. So far, only Phoenix Cyclops has an official release date. He will be available on November 2. Jane Foster’s Thor is slated to release next, with a promised winter 2027 release window. Venom follows, with a spring 2027 release window. Jubilee is slated to round out this first year of DLC content with a summer 2027 release window.

Why Marvel Tōkon Chose Phoenix Cyclops for Its First DLC

In a recent PlayStation blog post, Arc System Works explains why Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls chose Phoenix Cyclops, featuring new visuals, Optic Blasts, and Dark Phoenix gameplay.

Takeshi Yamanaka, the game’s producer, said that early in development, the team considered Cyclops part of the Unbreakable X-Men foursome. Yamanaka noted that because of Cyclops’ history in Marvel fighting games, they wanted to distinguish their version of the character from previous games. That led them to choose the Phoenix version of Cyclops, which in turn led to the difficult decision to make him a DLC character rather than a day-one roster member.

During those discussions, our narrative team proposed the idea of using the Phoenix version of Cyclops. We felt this interpretation would allow us to create fresher visuals and a more exciting fighting style while offering something unexpected for players.

As a result, we made the difficult decision to continue working on the character until we felt like we were adding something new to his fighting game legacy. As a result, we’re excited to now release Phoenix Cyclops as our first post-launch DLC character.

Cyclops also has a more traditional costume as an alternative.

Marvel Tōkon Adds Jane Foster as Its Second DLC Fighter

PlayStation also revealed that Jane Foster will portray Thor as the game’s second DLC character. The reveal came via a trailer featuring her Mjolnir and a scene in which Loki calls her an imposter. Check out the trailer embedded above.
