Marvel Tokon Update Improves PC Performance After Rough Launch—Full Patch Notes

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls launched for PS5 and PC last week on August 6, 2026, but while the game has received a largely positive reception on PlayStation, the PC version has been heavily criticised for its poor performance, stuttering, and frequent crashes.

Fans took to online forums over the weekend to voice their frustrations, with prominent fighting game creator Maximilian Dood even uninstalling the game after experiencing severe stuttering and lag. Thankfully, just four days after launch, Arc System Works has released the game’s first major update, with the patch primarily focused on improving the PC experience.

Marvel Tokon’s Update Seems To Be Working

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls’ servers were taken offline for several hours today as Arc System Works worked on improving the game’s PC performance. Players have reported a range of issues since launch, including inconsistent frame rates and a lack of Linux support.

The update is now live, with PC players required to download a sizeable 10 GB patch. One key feature of the update is that it reduces CPU load, which should improve overall responsiveness and help address lag-related issues.

The patch also fixes a bug that could cause sudden performance drops during gameplay, while backend crash reporting has been improved to help identify and resolve future issues more quickly.

Early reactions to the update have been mixed. Linux support remains absent, but players who have downloaded the update are already reporting smoother overall performance, with some noting reduced lag and input delay.

Reduced CPU Usage
Multiple fixes have been implemented to reduce overall CPU usage, including:
-An issue where the CPU ran high throughout the start up process.
-An issue where additional load on the system was being created due to periodic audio processing during matches.

Sudden Performance Drops

Frame Rate Drops
Fixed an issue where the frame rate would drop when certain resolutions were selected.

Bug Fixes

Battle Settings
Fixed an issue where restarting the game with certain customization items or colors enabled would cause the settings to revert to default.

Online Lobby
Fixed an issue where changing how attack buttons were displayed to action icons resulted in some buttons becoming unresponsive during the open lobby mini games.

On PC

Warm Up Those Shaders
With the game being updated to the latest version, the PC version will prompt you to warm-up the shaders. Do so now for a smoother experience.

Auto Graphics Quality Setting
Improved auto spec detection to select a graphics profile that better fits your system.
