Marvel Rivals Boasts Largest Discord Community In Gaming

Marvel Rivals has quickly established itself as one of the biggest multiplayer games around, and it seems its success extends far beyond the game itself, as it now boasts the largest Discord community in gaming, with more than 4.4 million members.

The achievement highlights just how successful NetEase’s hero shooter has become since launching, particularly among younger audiences. Marvel Rivals has reportedly attracted more than 40 million players worldwide, with 60% of its audience being under the age of 24.

Marvel Rivals Has Become A Social Hub

In a video and blog post for Disney, Sean Shoptaw, EVP of Global Games and Digital Entertainment, discussed how gaming is helping shape the future of Disney. While the company’s partnership with Epic Games aims to create “something truly exceptional,” Shoptaw emphasised that games are about much more than entertainment.

He described games as “places to socialize, create, and express identity,” while also noting that they’re increasingly where younger audiences first encounter major Disney brands and IP.

Marvel Rivals was highlighted as a prime example, with its 40 million-player milestone demonstrating the reach these digital worlds can have. That figure was shared more than a year ago, meaning the game’s audience is likely even larger today.

Shoptaw also noted that over 60% of Marvel Rivals’ user base is under 24, highlighting how Gen Z and Gen Alpha are using games as places to spend time and socialise with friends.

NetEase has leaned into that social aspect, too. This summer saw the introduction of Hellfire Bay Beach, the game’s second social hub, giving players a place to hang out outside of its usual fast-paced matches.

That community extends beyond the game itself, with Marvel Rivals’ Discord reaching more than 4.4 million members. The game also generated over 285 million Twitch viewing hours throughout 2025, further highlighting the strength of its audience.

With Season 9 introducing sweeping changes, including the Team-Up overhaul, and the ongoing Path to Doomsday, Marvel Rivals shows no signs of slowing down. If anything, its growing community could make it an increasingly important part of Disney’s gaming ambitions.
