Gather your friends and cover your eyes, as a new 2D quota horror game, Lost Railway, has just been announced. It’s the first of its kind, and your sole goal is to scavenge abandoned stations for loot to keep your train moving, all whilst avoiding the horrors lurking in the dark.
The official news comes from the Triple I Initiative 2026, with the gaming showcase’s third iteration featuring 40 games, with eight exclusive world premieres—this being one of them!

Lost Railway Opens Closed Playtest Sign-Ups
As if the reveal wasn’t exciting enough, it turns out you can get your mitts on Lost Railway very soon, as the sign-ups for the closed playtest have also gone live.
But what can you expect from your time with Lost Railway? Well, the core gameplay loop revolves around exploring abandoned facilities in search of various pieces of loot, which are used to fuel your train and move onto the next stop.
However, it’s not as easy as it might sound, as you and up to three friends must navigate the 2D pixelated halls whilst avoiding the numerous monsters that dwell within. Find weapons to dispatch some, but beware of the invincible ones, as you won’t stand a chance against those.
Other features include reviving your friends as mutated creatures if they fall in battle, as well as teamwork-based mechanics like holding down levers to activate bridges and lifts. You’ll need to work together to keep the train moving, but don’t be surprised if your friend accidentally shoots you in the back of the head—it happens to the best of us.
What do you think of Lost Railway? Will you be taking part in the closed playtest? Share your thoughts in the official Insider Gaming Discord Server.
