League of Legends GOAT Faker Becomes Esports World Cup Ambassador

The Esports Foundation has announced that League of Legends icon Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok from T1 has become their ambassador.

The legendary midlaner will now be an ambassador for both the Esports World Cup and the Esports Nations Cup.

Faker is considered the greatest LoL player of all time, winning six LoL World Championships, including the last three consecutively.

He joins Chess-great Magnus Carlsen and Portugal footballer Cristiano Ronaldo as faces of the EWC.

Faker’s Esports Ambassador Role

Faker has agreed to join the Esports Foundation’s Ambassador Program until 2028.

Faker and T1 are currently competing in EWC 2026, hoping to add the trophy to their extensive collection.

Though Polymarket users only give the reigning world champions T1 a 16% chance of claiming the EWC title, with odds dropping by 35%.

According to the EF, in this new role, Faker will “represent the perspective of esports players across the Foundation’s international events, athlete initiatives, media engagements and leadership forums.”

“You can’t talk about esports without mentioning Faker. He is the defining athlete of competitive gaming: a champion whose excellence, discipline and longevity have inspired an entire generation,” says Ralf Reichert, Chief Executive Officer of the Esports Foundation.

“Across EWC, ENC and NGSC, he will help ensure that the players who built this sport have a voice in shaping where it goes next,” Rechert added.

Meanwhile, Faker states: “Competition has shaped my life, and I am proud to join the Esports Foundation as Game Ambassador.

“I want to continue competing for the biggest titles with T1 while representing the players and fans who have helped esports grow worldwide.

“Through the Esports World Cup, Esports Nations Cup and the Foundation’s wider platforms, I hope to inspire the next generation to pursue excellence, remain resilient and believe in how far competitive gaming can take them. There is still much more to achieve.”
