First Production Images Released From Last of Us Season Two

The Last of Us’ second season is in production as we speak, and fans are hot on the heels of any leaks, judging early images way ahead of time. The second season of the award-winning live-action adaptation of the same name isn’t due to be released until 2025, but that hasn’t stopped fans from forming early opinions of the shots seen so far.

Recently, HBO revealed two production stills from The Last of Us, showcasing what the lead characters – Joel and Ellie – are shaping up to look like in the second season.

Early Issues

In the two shots showcased by Max on Twitter today, we see Joel (Pedro Pascal) – now sporting a little more hair – assumedly at the tavern in Jackson, if the background of his image is anything to go by. He’s staring someone down in the shot, but it’s not possible to identify them in the image provided.

By contrast, Bella Ramsay’s Ellie is in more of an action sequence in her shot. She’s clutching a shotgun and making her way through some kind of store, dressed head-to-toe in winter garb and wearing a lit torch, which suggests she’s creeping through somewhere long abandoned. She’s wearing an intense look on her face; a burning focus that indicates she’s moments from potential danger.

Recently, fans have expressed concerns about Bella Ramsay’s ongoing portrayal of Ellie in The Last of Us. In the second game (2020), Ellie is around 19 years old and has been noticeably aged by her apocalyptic environment. Bella Ramsay, unfortunately, still looks very baby-faced and not as ‘rough’ as Ellie appears during the second game.

Time will tell how the second season shapes up, but it’ll be a long time before we see the finished product.

  1. Where’s Abby?! Ellie still looks like a child. Abby is the better protagonist anyway.
