NACON-owned studio Kylotonn is expecting an announcement that it will face mass layoffs just days after its annual NACON Connect event, the Kylotonn Union has said.
Reporting via STJV, the Kylotonn Union says a meeting was scheduled for May 6th to inform workers of “massive layoffs” at the studio, but it was postponed to May 13th.
According to the union, the meeting delay was likely intended to avoid negative press around NACON’s annual NACON Connect event, which is set to take place on May 7.
The union says that the “situation follows years of warnings on the company’s financial situation, on the denial of democracy imposed on workers and their representatives, on the disorganized productions led by what we consider incompetent people, and on the catastrophic working conditions which damaged our health,” and cites several other articles from 2023, 24, and 26, which alleges major issues of workers rights at Kylotonn.
The Kylotonn Union has announced that it will be starting an open-ended strike starting today, until at least May 11, or until the following demands have been met:
- That all layoffs be canceled as long as there is no solid plan to ensure the company’s future,
- The reactivation of the unannounced project, and its presentation to other publishers and investors,
- The transition of all workers to the Engineers & Professionals status to increase their rights and protection against these shameful acts,
- The contractual revision of the links between Kylotonn and Nacon, to put an end to the power of life and death the group has on our lives and work.
The French developer Kylotonn was acquired by NACON in October 2018, and is best known for the WRC series.
