kofyr Banned Until End of 2027 After Sexual Assault Allegations

Psyonix has banned Angel ‘kofyr’ Lopez from all Psyonix-affiliated Rocket League competition until the end of 2027 after the player was accused of sexual assault and sexist remarks.

The allegations relate to events at the Rocket League World Championship 2026 after-party, at which kofyr allegedly inappropriately touched multiple women.

Psyonix outline kofyr Rocket League ban

Psyonix shared the following tweet, just days after allegations surfaced regarding the player, “Kofyr has been banned from Rocket League Championship Series tournaments and all additional Psyonix-affiliated competitions until the end of 2027 because he violated our code of conduct section 7.1.3”

The ‘Code of Conduct’ section acknowledged in Psyonix’s tweet refers to the Rocket League Championship Series 2026 Season Official Rulebook.

Section 7.1.3. of the rulebook quoted in full is:

“Players and Control Persons shall not behave in a manner (a) which violates these Rules, (b) which is disruptive, unsafe or destructive, or (c) which is otherwise harmful to the enjoyment of Rocket League by other users as intended by Psyonix (as decided by Psyonix). In particular, Players and Control Persons shall not engage in harassing or disrespectful conduct, use of abusive or offensive language, Game sabotage, spamming, social engineering, scamming, or any unlawful activity (‘Toxic Behavior’).”

The punishment will see the player, currently a free agent after being released by Shopify Rebellion on September 25, out of competitive action until at least 2028.

The punishment has received mixed reaction from the Rocket League community, with some celebrating the punishment and others questioning whether it goes far enough, arguing that a permanent ban is more suitable for the scenario.

kofyr sexual assault controversy explained

The decision follows comments by Rocket League streamer and content creator, Bailey ‘bails’ Ryanne, who was present at the Rocket League World Championship 2026 and the subsequent after-party.

The streamer allegedly witnessed a female content creator assaulting multiple people before outlining sexual assault allegations against an unnamed pro player.

She shared, “Now on to the second assaulter: a man, one of the pros. One of the pros at the after-party decided to touch many women’s asses.

“One of the pros, one of the NA pros. He showed up drunk, he’s also underage.” She later added, “It’s not diaz, it’s no one on SpaceStation Gaming, no one on NRG, that’s all I’m going to say.”

The description of the player led the community to quickly surmise that it related to kofyr, who is under the legal drinking age in Fort Worth, where the Rocket League Worlds occurred.

The clip was then shared on social media where Karmine Corp’s Tristan ‘Atow.’ Soyez made allegations towards kofyr, claiming he made sexist remarks while drunk to his girlfriend.
