Kingdom Hearts creator Tetsuya Nomura has guaranteed fans that Kingdom Hearts 4 will not be delayed beyond the release window of late 2027.
The next entry in the beloved Square Enix series had more details revealed during the weekend’s D23 event, including a playable Mickey Mouse and an in-game world based on Coco.
With it now being over seven years since the last title was released, anticipation for the latest entry is high, and while there have been concerns of a delay pushing back the release date, Nomura insisted that won’t happen.
Kingdom Hearts 4 Won’t Be Delayed
Speaking at Disney’s D23 event, as reported by IGN, Nomura doubled down on the late 2027 release window for Kingdom Hearts 4, assuring fans there won’t be any delays.
“I saw online that some people were saying the release date might still get pushed back. I want to set the record straight: That is not happening.
“I do hope that people do look forward to the game coming in 2027. A lot of the marketing for the game has only just started, and so I do hope that people also look forward to hearing more news as well.”
Adding to this, Tai Yasue confirmed the title would ‘100%’ be releasing in the announced window, stating: “I can confidently say and promise that it will launch in 2027. Schedule-wise, the development is very smooth. It’s not like an 80%, 90% – it’s a 100% thing. We’ll be there in 2027 for sure.”
Kingdom Hearts 4 was formerly announced in 2022, with the first trailer revealed earlier this year, but the D23 event provided yet another look at the title, including some key features.
Alongside the Coco world, both Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck will be playable characters, while the likes of Hades’ from Hercules were also shown in footage.
