The creator of the Injustice series has revealed that the sequel has sold more than 9 million copies since its launch.
Die-hard fans have been patiently waiting for NetherRealm Studios to reveal the next installment in the franchise, but there is still no confirmation. Earlier this year, it was claimed that Injustice 3 was in development, but the developers have not provided any updates. We have now received information on the sales figures for the last installment in the series.
Injustice 2 Sales Figures Revealed
Ed Boon, the co-creator of the Injustice and Mortal Kombat series, revealed the 9 million figure for Injustice 2 through a post on BlueSky (via Gamingbolt). A user recently posted a table of data from the NDP group listing the top 10 best-selling US lifetime superhero games. The list featured Marvel’s Spider-Man, Batman: Arkham City, and Batman: Arkham Knight in the top 3. Injustice: Gods Among Us is on the 8th, and Injustice 2 is on the 10th.
The user asked Ed Boon whether Injustice 2 has sold more than 2 million copies, to which the series creator responded, stating, “Since we released Injustice 2, it has sold over 9 million copies worldwide.”
The Injustice series has been a fan favorite since the release of the first game, thanks to its compelling storyline, engaging single-player content, and innovative gameplay mechanics. Additionally, the strong sales figures of the previous title give players hope that they will be enough to encourage developers to work on a third installment. However, we will need to wait for an official announcement to know for certain.
