All eyes are eagerly set towards EA as we await the release of the next Battlefield title, and, while it is still a way out, there are opportunities to get involved already.
Another chance to dive into an early experience of Battlefield is on the horizon with the Pre-Alpha Server Performance Test, running for 72 hours over a long weekend.
The Battlefield Pre-Alpha Server Performance Test is not open access, however, with only a select few earning the opportunity. If you want the chance to be among them, we’ve got the steps to follow.
How to Sign up For Battlefield Pre-Alpha Server Performance Test

To be eligible to play Battlefield early in any of the tests, sign up for Battlefield Labs. This is part of EA’s Playtesting, with spots also available in Skate and Apex Legends tests.
For the Pre-Alpha Server Performance Test, spots are available in North America, Europe, and select areas of Asia. If you’ve already signed up to Battlefield Labs, you’re in the running for a spot.
The Pre-Alpha Server Performance Test for Battlefield begins on Friday, May 23 at 1am PT/3am CT/4am ET/9am BST/6pm AEST, running for 72 hours. Upon completion of the test, game access for those participating will be revoked.
Invitations will not be sent at once but distributed gradually. Of course, as this is a pre-alpha server test, you may encounter issues with connectivity, matchmaking, and lag.
What’s Available in The Battlefield Pre-Alpha Server Performance Test?
While the main focus of the test is to “verify server performance and stability with increased player counts throughout a full weekend,” which will help to prepare for a future release, there will, of course, be content to dive into.
EA stated that “a select group of maps and modes” are available to play, but remember that if you are invited, you are subject to a non-disclosure agreement and cannot share details of your experience.
Access to the test is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, so make sure to select your preferred platform when signing up for Battlefield Labs.
When Does The Next Battlefield Release?
Development of the next Battlefield is ongoing, and there is still a fairly long way to go, as shown by the latest test being a “pre-alpha” server test.
We’re edging closer to a release, however, with the next Battlefield planned for release before April 2026. No exact date has been stated yet, though.
Battlefield is due to release in the 2026 fiscal year, which will provide a big boost to EA’s financials alongside the standard yearly releases like EA FC and Madden.
