Roadcraft’s release is on the horizon, but if you can’t wait any longer, the New Zealand trick can be used to jump into the game early, depending on your platform.
Following on from the success of Snowrunner, Roadcraft puts you in control of a team assisting disaster recovery areas and helping to restore infrastructure after Mother Nature has unleashed her wrath.
With a long list of vehicles to get behind the wheel of and eight gigantic maps to play upon release, it’s understandable if your excitement levels are too high and you want to use the New Zealand trick.
How to Play Roadcraft Early on Xbox Series X|S Using New Zealand Trick

Xbox players have the easiest way to dive into Roadcraft early, with the full game playable from 5am PT/7am CT/8am ET/1pm BST by following these steps:
- Open the ‘Settings’ menu.
- Scroll down to ‘System’ and open the menu.
- Select ‘Language & Location’
- Click on ‘Location’ and select New Zealand.
- Hit the ‘Restart Now’ button to restart your console.
- Upon restart, dive into Roadcraft.
This approach only works if you own Roadcraft yourself, as it’s not available on Xbox Game Pass or through any other subscription service, but it should work regardless of whether you bought the game via the Microsoft Store or purchased a CD key elsewhere.
How to Play Roadcraft Early on PlayStation 5 Using New Zealand Trick
PlayStation 5 players can utilize the New Zealand trick to play Roadcraft early but the method is slightly longer, and potentially more expensive, than on Xbox.
To utilize this method, you need to have a PlayStation account set up and located in New Zealand. Unlike Xbox, you cannot change your location in the settings, so a new account is needed if you haven’t created one already.
For early access to Roadcraft, the game must be purchased via the New Zealand store. If you have already purchased the game, you need to purchase it again to play early, so it might not be worth the outlay.
If you have purchased Roadcraft on a New Zealand account, load into the game on your New Zealand account, then switch profiles to your main account, keeping the other signed in, and you should be able to play early.
When Roadcraft fully releases in your timezone, you won’t need to log in via the New Zealand account anymore.
Does the New Zealand Trick for Roadcraft Work on PC?
No, PC players are never able to utilize the New Zealand trick to access games early, as there is no method for making it work.
On top of that, Roadcraft has a different release time on PC and, unlike consoles, with the staggered release, the global release on PC means the game is accessible by all players at exactly the same moment, regardless of timezone.
There’s no competitive side to Roadcraft, however, so you won’t find yourself playing catch-up to others.
