Helldivers 2 Gets Review Bombed After Moving to Easy Anti-Cheat

Helldivers 2 has recently been review-bombed on Steam, and players seem unhappy with the move to Easy Anti-Cheat.

Arrowhead Game Studios recently announced that Helldivers 2 will switch from its previous anti-cheat system, GameGuard, to Easy Anti-Cheat. They believe this new system will better ensure fair gameplay and maintain the game’s integrity.

The developers also addressed mods, saying they welcome cosmetic and non-gameplay mods. However, they will take action against any mods that create unfair advantages or negatively affect other players. Notably, Easy Anti-Cheat’s implementation appears to be affecting all other mods.

Helldivers 2 Review Bombed after Easy Anti-Cheat Impacts Mods

Spotted by IGN, if you head over to Helldivers 2’s Steam page, it’s apparent that the game has been recently review-bombed. The game’s overall reviews still sit in the ‘Mostly Positive’ category; however, the recent reviews have now pushed it into the ‘Mostly Negative’ category, with most of them complaining about Easy Anti-Cheat.

The reviews state things like “New anti cheat broke my basic QOL mods that only fix problems the devs are too lazy or innept to fix themselves,”; “the new anti cheat made it not work on boostoroid and other cloud gaming platforms so I can’t play any more.” Several others have also spoken out against adopting Easy Anti-Cheat and its impact on mods that have helped address issues some players seem to be facing in the game.

At the moment, Arrowhead Game Studios hasn’t commented on the Helldivers 2 review bombing situation.

Also, players may remember this isn’t the first time the game has been review-bombed; the community has been pretty vocal whenever the devs make moves they don’t agree with. Players first saw this at launch, when the devs tried to add PSN Linking. It became such a big thing that the developers eventually released a ‘Review Bomb Cape‘, poking fun at the situation.
