Helldivers 2 Developers Address Ongoing Performance Issues

Helldivers 2 developers have finally heard all the complaints and player feedback about performance issues and already have a patch planned for mid-October.

Helldivers 2 has received loads of new content lately, including the Dust Devils premium warbond, the Hiveworlds update with randomly generated caves, and much more. However, there is one update that all players are currently awaiting for the game, and that’s a performance patch. Fortunately, the developers have finally addressed these and have a release window for Helldivers 2’s next performance patch.

Helldivers 2 Performance Patch Planned for Mid-October

Through a lengthy post on the r/Helldivers subreddit, Arrowhead Game Studios has finally acknowledged all the performance issues from Helldivers 2. The developers have been hearing about performance drops, stability hiccups, freezes, and annoying audio bugs through Discord, forums, Reddit, and their dashboards. They have also heard that recent updates “haven’t hit the mark,” and their silence on the situation hasn’t helped either.

To remedy the situation, they already have a Helldivers 2 performance patch scheduled for mid-October. This update will provide some key crash fixes, minor performance improvements, and a balance pass. Moreover, this update has fixed the Primary weapon/side-arm audio that stops during a mission. It also addresses long-overdue fixes, including the Charger footstep sounds and weapon audio that stop mid-mission. Lastly, no more landing on caves after this update.

More Performance Updates Planned

The developers explained that more significant performance issues will take much longer to resolve and can’t be fixed through a “60-day patch”. Currently, they are working on a larger development plan to address the broader concerns. However, the latest patch should provide a noticeable improvement towards Helldivers 2’s performance bugs.

Moreover, Arrowhead Game Studios is also looking to add more transparency and conversation to the picture. They will be sharing more about “more about the processes, performance, and how we got here, plus further improvements and evolution.” A new post regarding this should arrive by next week. The devs concluded, stating, “We hear you, we want things to be in a better state, we are taking it very seriously, we will continue working and sharing.”

In other news, the developers of Helldivers 2 have addressed game size reduction. Additionally, a new leak has revealed ‘possibly scrapped’ ship customization features. What are your thoughts on Helldivers 2 developers addressing the ongoing performance problems? Do you think the October patch will result in a noticeable improvement?
