HECZ Offers To Buy ‘Dopest PCs in the World’ For Call of Duty League

Hector ‘HECZ’ Rodriguez, the top dog at OpTic, has made a stellar offer to the Call of Duty League, and it’s one that no organization owner should have to make. He has pitched the purchase of eight incredible PCs, which he has dubbed ‘the dopest PCs in the world’, just so players on LAN can have the experience they deserve at the top tier of Call of Duty esports.

It has long been known that CDL’s professional players use subpar computers to play on the grandest stages in the COD space. This has led to performance issues and technical breakdowns, stemming from the utilization of tired, degrading hardware.

OpTic’s head wants to turn that around, and he’s willing to float the cost.

Should Activision Invest in Better CDL Rigs?

In a video published on social media, HECZ addressed the technical state of play with the Call of Duty League, making a bold offer:

There is a dimension in which we won every single tournament this year, including Champs, all the ones we lost…

But you know, this (gestures to PC), how old is this?

I have a proposal, no strings attached. Let me buy eight of the dopest PCs in the world to live on main stage until next year. And then next season, if someone gets upgraded or needs upgrading, we upgrade it.

These are the best players in the world, they should play on the best settings and best computers – best technology in the world.

OpTic Texas came remarkably close to securing a three-peat this year, hitting a third Call of Duty League Championship win in three years, but it wasn’t to be. They were stopped in their tracks by a dominant FaZe Vegas, but the team managed to regain and win at the Esports World Cup, using totally different hardware.

The theory amongst the community is that the CDL’s PCs are simply outdated and running on bygone hardware, while other esports tournaments and organizers use much more powerful and capable components in their builds.

It was only a few years ago that the Call of Duty esports circuit switched to using PC as the platform of choice, and it hasn’t always sat well with many users, given how unreliable Call of Duty tends to be on PC.

Tick rates, refresh rates, frame rates, and the Call of Duty network’s typical issues with packet burst, packet loss, and high latency have long plagued PC gamers in the Call of Duty space.

Do you think OpTic should have to step up and buy PCs for the Call of Duty League? Let us know your thoughts on the Insider Gaming Discord server.
