Riot Games has confirmed that Rasmus ‘Caps’ Winther will be inducted into League of Legends’ ‘Hall of Legends,’ making him the first Western LoL player to receive the honor.
The Danish midlaner becomes only the third player to receive the accolade, following Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok and Jian ‘Uzi’ Zi-Hao in 2024 and 2025, respectively.
Riot celebrates ‘Western GOAT’ Caps
Following weeks of online speculation and leaks that pointed to Caps’ induction, Riot Games has confirmed that Caps will be the next player inducted into the Hall of Legends.
Caps enters the Hall of Legends as Europe’s dominant force in League of Legends history, winning 17 LEC titles in a period that has included dozens of individual honors, including 17 LEC All-Pro appearances, four LEC MVPs, and seven LEC Finals MVP awards.
In the announcement, Riot Games described Caps as “a beacon of hope whose legacy reshaped what the West believed was possible on the global stage.”
The apotheosis of Caps’ career undoubtedly came in 2019, when G2 captured MSI 2019, with Caps securing the MVP Award. The legendary G2 roster fell only one series short of the Golden Road, losing the Worlds 2019 finals to FunPlus Phoenix.
Chris Greeley, Global Head of LoL Esports, made the following statement regarding Caps’ induction, saying, “Caps always felt like the player you could never fully prepare for. He has that rare ‘it’ factor, the ability to rise in the biggest moments through his playmaking, leadership, and calming presence under pressure.
“Caps has inspired an entire generation of Western players and earned the respect of fans around the world. He’s not just one of the greatest League of Legends players of all time, he exemplifies everything we hope our esports heroes can be.”
While European fans will continue to reminisce about 2019, Caps’ G2 roster remains the most challenging Western roster for Eastern teams to overcome.
G2 recorded wins against BNK FEARX and Gen.G to reach the Grand Final of First Stand 2026, defeating Top Esports and T1 at MSI to eliminate Faker’s roster from the competition.
Therefore, Caps remains at the heart of the hopes of European League of Legends, consistently being in the middle of both Summoner’s Rift and the hopes of Western League to this day.

Caps will be celebrated at the official Hall of Legends Trophy Ceremony in Berlin, Germany, on August 18.
Caps also will be honored throughout the duration of the Hall of Legends in-game event beginning September 10, which includes an event pass that will guide players throughout his career and dedicated cosmetic items.
According to online leaks, Caps is believed to have selected Tristiana as his Hall of Legends Champion, with an Immortalized skin for the Champion to follow.
