Halo Studios Hit by Layoffs After Campaign Evolved Launch [UPDATE]

Layoffs are occurring at Halo Studios.

Halo Studios recently released Halo: Campaign Evolved. It’s the first game in the long-running Xbox franchise to be released on a Sony PlayStation platform. Unfortunately, following the game’s release, the studio appears to be conducting layoffs.

UPDATE August 7: It’s been confirmed that those who were let go were contractors who’ve either had their contracts lapse or terminated. No full-time staff has been let go.

Several LinkedIn posts reflect this, with multiple people stating that their time at the studio has ended. Nick Treitman, a producer at the studio, has noted that he was recently affected by a round of layoffs.

After 6.5 years working on Halo and dodging just as many rounds of layoffs – it has finally caught up to me. I have nothing but love for Halo and the folks at the studio, this is just a tough reality in the gaming industry right now.

I am open to new roles as a Producer/Project Manager working remotely or hybrid in the Seattle area.

During my time, I have had the honor of supporting multiple amazing teams ranging from Art, Networking, Localization, Narrative, and being the Product Owner of Halo Infinites social multiplayer pillar.

Paul Morris was listed as a scrum master, and his time at the studio has also come to an end. However, it is noted that he was a contractor.

Today, I learned my time at Halo Studios will be coming to an end following the successful launch of our latest game, Halo: Campaign Evolved.

I know this is one of the most challenging job markets our industry has seen, and I know the road ahead won’t be easy.

But I’m not done, and my purpose has not changed.

Caleb Lawrence, a Software Engineer at the studio, recently listed himself as available for work as well.

Insider Gaming will continue to monitor the story and report any updates as more information becomes available.

  • Who gives a damn? In every other place of work there are layoffs but nobody cares except if it’s game devs. Also it was deserved, the destroyed their flagship game. This studia hired devs that hated guns and placed in charge of Halo? They literally gave cortana the face of a guy. Also the dialogue is atrocious.

  • Can’t wait for these hack devs to say ‘I worked on Halo’ as way to get involved with another IP, starting the process over again
