The yet-to-be-announced Halo Combat Evolved remake may be co-developed by one of Virtuos’ studios, two new reliable claims state.
The Halo series is one of Xbox’s signature franchises alongside Gears of War and Forza. Bringing the FPS genre to new places, it has been going strong since 2001 with Combat Evolved. With the upcoming 25th anniversary of the original title, many have speculated that a remake of the game has been in the works. Early leaks and a subtle tease from Halo Studios have hinted at it but, according to XboxEra and MrRebs, it’s in production and already has another studio attached to help.
Virtuos’ Abstraction Helping On Halo Combat Evolved With Hybrid Engine, Claims Insiders
The claim was first made by Halo-centric YouTuber MrRebs. In the video, seen above, they claim that the remake is in development with Abstraction Virtuos Studios out of the Netherlands. Furthermore, the remake will use a hybrid engine similar to this year’s The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. After MrRebs’ claim, XboxEra went on and backed it up, saying one of their sources also confirms it. They mention that Halo Studios is the lead on the project, so it isn’t an outside project.
Interestingly enough, a new showcase event focused on the future of Halo was announced for the Halo World Championship on October 24th, 2025. All we know is that it will consist of a big event followed by a deep dive panel. This may be where Halo Studios plans to announce the Combat Evolved remake, but nothing is confirmed just yet. Still, fans of the series should stay tuned, especially with the team hyping up the event after last year’s development video.

It will be trash as long as Halo Studios is overseeing it. I don’t even trust the “remaster” of Prototype because of these idiots Iron Galaxy wanted to ruin THPS. Xbox is a mess, Satya needs to fire that entire team and ignore loser influencers and “journalists”
Microsoft can’t close Halo Studios soon enough as well as other studios The Coalition, Undead Labs, Turn 10, Compulsion, and Arkane. Phil and the Xbox division of Microsoft Gaming should be fired.
And it’ll be $200.
And if you want day one game pass for it, you need to trade your first born child.
Why? They remade it already. To remake again but somehow worse look how bad THPS 3+4 was and now they’ll ruin Protoype too.
