Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have finally lifted the lid on the Grand Theft Auto 6 price after many months of speculation, and what they’ve revealed pretty much gels with most expectations. The base game is set to cost $80, but for just $20 more ($100 total, for those who hate math), you can get the Ultimate Edition.
Fortunately, Rockstar Games has also revealed what you get when you buy that $100 Ultimate Edition, and there’s so much content packed into the bundle that you’d be something of a fool not to pay $100 for Grand Theft Auto 6.
GTA 6 Ultimate Edition Should Be Standard
The base edition of Grand Theft Auto 6 comes with no frills and no bells on, but if you pre-order it, you’ll get a nostalgia-fuelled throwback pack themed around GTA: Vice City. You’ll be paying $80 to experience what might be the most popular game of all time, or at least the fastest-selling game, but that’s about it.
However, chuck an extra twenty bucks on your purchase, and you’ll walk away with the Ultimate Edition.
As revealed earlier by Rockstar Games, the Ultimate Edition comes with a wealth of content, including some exclusive elements that standard edition players simply won’t be able to access.

For example, five in-game stores are accessible only to those who buy the Ultimate Edition. This includes a tattoo parlour, a car mod shop, a hair salon, and a clothing store. It stands to reason that their entire function will be rendered inaccessible to standard owners, writing off a fair chunk of customization content.
Additionally, there are exclusive side missions tied to the Ultimate Edition, including a gang compound bursting with high-tier loot and a classic car collection function. That latter bit has me the most interested, as this ‘special commission’ allows you to find and restore project cars and ‘barn finds’, much like you can in games like Forza Horizon 6.
There’s more, of course. Those partaking in the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition will get exclusive vehicles, weapons, weapon skins, outfits, styles, vehicle modkits, hideout elements, and entire bundles of content, all wrapped up with that $20 boost.
Folks have been waiting more than a decade for GTA 6. It has been a long time since Grand Theft Auto 5 was released in 2013, and the die-hard fans out there will have already earmarked their next $100 for that pre-order, because for that extra $20, you get so much content, some of which might be considered substantial.
If you’ve been waiting this long for GTA 6, why wouldn’t you pay the extra $20? We were expecting the Ultimate Edition (or something akin to that) to run up a bill of around $150, so this is a steal.
Admittedly, it’s missing a few things. There are no early access elements for GTA 6, and even buying the game physically won’t net you a disc, as there’s only a code in the box. It’s a fair bet that there’s nothing physical attached to the Ultimate Edition, which is a shame. In 2013, the Ultimate Edition of GTA 5 at least netted you a nice physical map and a steelbook for that collector-focused edge.

It’s nice to game share with a GTA fantastic at times like these LoL. I usually always get any special edition that includes actual extra content. If a special edition only includes early access, then I don’t buy it. Fomo really doesn’t get me feeling like I need to waste money on shit

It’s too funny seeing all these “hardcore” Sony fans talking up the PS5 Pro as the “best way to play GTA 6”. When that will instantly not be true once it comes out on PC. And we won’t even really know if it actually plays at 60FPS or if it is just going to be some AI upscaled resolution BS. When on PC you know it is going to be running at a higher FPS 100%, And the mods available for PC’s have so many different ways of effecting the game… graphics, content, customization… Console players really don’t even know what they are missing if they really think that the bump from PS5 to PS5 is some significant worthwhile improvement.
