New information about Grand Theft Auto 6 has been discovered, and it highlights the sort of advance techology being used to power GTA 6. It’s looking like the most sophisticated and alive world Rockstar has probably ever created.
Rockstar Games isn’t exactly a slouch in the perfectionism department. This is why recent releases take so long: The company wants new games to be perfect, if not better.
Even in the two GTA 6 trailers we’ve seen, the world looks jaw-dropping. We’ve since learned that ‘Advanced AI’ is powering all of this.
AI Being Used to Make an Organic GTA 6 Map

The AI conversation has heated up in recent years. But if you’ve ever played a game, you know most use AI in them, so it’s nothing new.
According to Brazilian retailer KaBuM! ‘The GTA VI universe pulsates in a hyper-realistic way,’ and it’s thanks to AI.

The product page stated:
‘NPCs (game characters) have their own routines based on advanced AI, generating organic random events around the map. The big innovation is in the integration of in-game social networks: your character’s cell phone consumes viral videos in real time, allowing you to follow Vice City influencers and discover secret side missions through the networks.’
It should be noted that this description doesn’t seem to be offered by any other retailer we’ve seen, and this could be subject to change.
However, active AI should ensure Leonida is the most alive open world to date. Will an alligator randomly roam around the streets before hopping on a skateboard? I hope so.

I can believe the game uses advance AI. All games use AI. But generative AI? I find that very hard to believe personally.
If it’s capable of creating “random, organic events,” it’s absolutely generative AI. Beyond that, though what both yourself and the author are referring to with “all games use AI” is very much a misnomer based on a misconception about the “AI” used in older games: older games don’t use AI at all– it’s an algorithmic instruction set based on various “if-then” scenarios.
Modern, “true” AI is capable of “learning”– the act of assimilating new information, and more impprtantly, making sound decisions based on that new information. This is what they mean when they say “advanced AI”.
This is part of the Rockstar patents, NPCs recording and uploading your actions to in-game TikTok with generative filters and descriptions, building a public perception of Jason & Lucia based on what you do
Anyone against AI is probably drinking the cool-aid at the cult party of liberal art students that don’t like the idea of AI replacing them for work.
AI will lead to cheaper production of entertainment, to a point where an average person can just talk to an AI to make a game for them to play.
So disingenuous, AI in games isn’t what the hot topic of current AI is. That’s an important distinction to make.
But people will be ok with it because it’s GTA.. any other game would be labeled “AI slop”
