The founder of Sucker Punch Studios has stated that the financials and costs of Ghost of Tsushima were very similar to those of Tsushima.
Ghost of Yotei, Sucker Punch’s next big game, finally arrives on October 2, 2025. Ahead of the game’s release, we have learned about the various improvements the developers have made from the previous game, including new weapons, an enhanced exploration system, and more. We have now learned that the budget of Yotei was similar to that of Tsushima.
Ghost of Yotei Was Made in a Similar Budget, Man Years, and Team Size as Tsushima
Spotted by GameRant, Brian Fleming, the founder of Sucker Punch, spoke about Yotei’s budget during a recent interview with GameFile. Fleming states that “the financials and the costs, the man-years, the amount of months that the team — times the size of the team — worked on it, [it’s] very, very similar” for both Yotei and Tsushima. It reportedly took $60 million and a team of 150-160 people to make Tsushima; however, Sucker Punch hasn’t provided any actual numbers.
It makes sense that Ghost of Tsushima and Yotei have a similar budget, as the developers have previously stated that both games will have a similar amount of content as well. However, the significant difference is that Tsushima was first released for the previous generation, the PlayStation 4, and later ported to PS5 and PC with a Director’s Cut. Yotei, on the other hand, is being released directly on the PlayStation 5, and there is no release window for PC yet.
