A new trailer for Ghost of Yotei shows off new dual katanas combat, as well as gameplay.
Leading up to its October 2nd launch, Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Yotei has given us glimpses of Atsu’s arsenal. In weeks past, we’ve seen looks at firearms and the odachi. Now, we got our first look at gameplay of the dual katanas, which gives Atsu twice the swords.
New Ghost of Yotei Gameplay Shows Off Dual Katanas In Combat
In the trailer, shown above, we see protagonist Atsu using the dual katanas in combat. While one sword is fine, she can use two and take enemies out with swift movements. Compared to the odachi, the katanas seem to be much quicker, though you won’t have much control over them. Still, it looks like a deadly way to take down foes one by one. Also in the gameplay, we see Atsu’s wolf companion take on enemies commanded by her. We do see her switch weapons mid-combat, as you can pick and choose how you want to fight on the fly.
The lead-up to Ghost of Yotei’s release has been exciting for PlayStation fans. Sucker Punch did Ghost of Tsushima well in 2020, so the next title from the acclaimed studio has a lot to live up to. Despite that, Yotei looks to capitalize on the visuals and combat and potentially best its predecessor. We’ll know soon enough, with the review embargo being a week before release and the game already gold.
