Genshin Impact has added three new Local Legends in 7.2, further expanding the formidable foes in the Valiant Chronicles. Among these is the Ancient Ironquill Local Legend, and it is the easiest boss if you know the perfect strategy.
Ancient Ironquill summons spikes throughout the battle, and you can use them against it without dealing any damage yourself. This guide will explain how you can do the same and defeat the Ancient Ironquill in Genshin Impact even with just one character.
Where to Find Ancient Ironquill in Genshin Impact
The Ancient Ironquill can be found in the Hallowed Plain area in Genshin Impact.
If you don’t meet the conditions below, though, you won’t be able to survive in the sub-zero region or open the secret area of the Local Legend:
- Complete the Citadel of the Ancient Fae questline. You need the Pickaxe Primal Construct to break the stones from the Awake and Sing, Ye Sleepers in the Dust quest and unlock the next part of the World Quest.
- Complete The Days of Old Were Days of Snow quest, which is part of the First Let the Earth Open Its Maw questline. It will unlock after you finish the Citadel of the Ancient Fae questline.
- Solve the Fluffahog puzzle in the Hallowed Plain area to open the secret room.
While the quests can be done as you follow along in the game, the Fluffahog puzzle is easy to miss. It is located at the middle Hallowed Plain Waypoint. You simply have to break the three Primal boxes near the Fluffahog and follow the Fluffahog Primal Construct to the three nearby Fluffahogs.

Interact and place 3 Rimecurrants, and then find the three Fluffahogs in the direction they went. After you find each one, it will open the secret room to the Ancient Ironquill.
Ancient Ironquill Weaknesses in Genshin Impact
Every team can beat the Ancient Ironquill, and its main weakness is the spikes it summons during the fight. You can stand next to them and let the boss hit them for knockback damage, or do a Charged Attack to make them fly into the boss and deal damage.
How to Get All Three Ancient Ironquill Achievements in Genshin Impact
You can secure the first achievement by simply defeating the boss. The other two achievements are also very similar, as you have to let it leap into the spikes or launch them against the Ancient Ironquill yourself.

The instructions are so simple that you can even defeat it with a solo shield. I would even suggest that you bring a weak but high HP team against this Local Legend to ensure one of your attacks doesn’t deal the final blow.
You can simply bring its HP down as much as possible and hit it with its spikes whenever it summons them. Once the boss has very low HP, defeat it by using a Charged Attack on the spikes or letting it leap into them. You will get all three achievements if the final blow is with the spikes.
