gen ATLAS is an upcoming title developed by Project Robot and Gen Design and published by Epic Games.
The upcoming title is a single-player, open-world action-adventure game from the mind of Fumito Ueda, creator of ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian. It came as a surprise announcement at Summer Game Fest, but players were definitely happy to see it arrive.
gen ATLAS Announced at Summer Game Fest
The announcement for gen ATLAS at Summer Game Fest brought players a brand-new trailer that showcases them in various situations on an abandoned planet filled with ruins and dilapidated machines. Players are also showcased different types of machines, some gigantic in size, like the creatures we see in Colossus. The description of the trailer states: “Before you lies a vast, silent world. Colossal structures stretch over endless plains, deserted facilities, and an ever-changing sea. The remnants of some grand design litter the planet’s surface.”
Towards the end of the trailer, we also get a glimpse of gameplay, where the player is seen shooting at different creatures, chasing them, in various situations where the giant robot comes into play, maneuvering through rocket launches, using his jetpack to scale machines, and much more. Players were not provided with a release date, but we do know it’s coming for PS5, XBOX Series X/S, and PC via Epic Games.
In other news, the release window for Resident Evil Code Veronica remake was revealed during Summer Game Fest. Additionally, two new Cuphead games were announced at the event.
