Gears of War: E-Day is now available in early access, and the numbers for the title are extremely promising, as some stats are already surpassing those of Gears 5.
The Coalition‘s latest entry in the Gears of War series officially releases on October 6, but early access for Gears of War: E-Day kicked off on October 2, with thousands of players flooding in.
Early numbers have revealed a wealth of excitement for the prequel title, set during the first Emergence of the Locust, with Gears 5 already being significantly surpassed.
E-Day Smashes Gears of War Steam Record
As spotted by HazzadorGamin on X, SteamDB numbers for Gears of War: E-Day show a player peak of 20,374 during the first day of early access, a number that should surge even higher with next week’s full release.
In comparison, Gears 5 achieved an all-time peak of 10,196, almost exactly half of E-Day’s early numbers, while Gears of War: Reloaded had a Steam peak of under 5,000.
Of course, this doesn’t show a complete picture, as these numbers for Gears of War: E-Day only display one platform and don’t include the console numbers or those playing on PC via the XBOX app.
Still, it’s an indication that the community has taken to E-Day quicker than any other Gears title released on Steam, and the signs are promising for a significant surge up the charts in next week’s full release.
Again though, those numbers won’t include the thousands that are likely to delve into the title through a Game Pass subscription, so it will still only represent the tip of the iceberg.
