Fortnitemares has begun in Fortnite, and while the majority of the focus has been taking by haunting collabs and horror legends, there is also a free Jimothy the Raccoon sidekick to earn.
Viral sensation Jimothy set the internet alight earlier this year when footage was shared showcasing the unique-looking critter, who has now been immortalized by Epic Games and added to Fortnite.
While most collab items are added to the Item Shop for purchase, the Jimothy Sidekick is available for free, and Insider Gaming has all the details on how to get it.
How to Get Free Jimothy Sidekick in Fortnite
The Jimothy Sidekick in Fortnite is awarded for successfully extracting the new Dumpster Diver Sprite, which was added in the Fortnitemares update.
This Sprite resembles a raccoon and provides a boost that awards food to restore extra health when you jump into a hiding spot, but the main reason to hunt down this Sprite is to secure the reward.
Successfully extracting the Dumpster Diver Sprite requires utilizing the extraction points around the map, which you may need to defend from enemies, but you can also use a Portable Extractor for quicker completion.
Once extracted, the reward will be waiting for you when you return to the lobby, and you can then work towards unlocking the Sidekick’s additional Emote.
When Does The Free Jimothy Sidekick Expire?
Epic Games has not explicity stated how long the Jimothy Sidekick is available for, but it’s expected to remain as an earnable reward until the end of the season.
The new Dumpster Diver Sprite is expected to be available in the loot pool until the end of Fortnitemares, which is slated to end on November 1 at the same time as Chapter 7 Season 4 draws to a close.
The final season of Chapter 7 will follow, expected to be a mini-season, which will likely have a slew of new Sprites, with previous Sprites from the current season, including the Dumpster Diver Sprite, no longer being available.
It means you should have a full month to earn the free Jimothy Sidekick, and given the task is a relatively easy one, you shouldn’t face any issues.
