THE INSIDER SAYS: “ DELTARUNE plays out like an acid-tripped lo-fi combo of everything from old Final Fantasy games and Rock Band (…?) while also drawing inspiration from…bullet-hell shmups. Don’t ask us, it’s just weird in all the right ways. But if you played the early demo chapters or Undertale, you already knew this.”
Create a character, your personality and within seconds of starting DELTARUNE, those choices are acknowledged – and discarded. Welcome to the warped parallel universe of Undertale. The game makes sure that you never know what to expect next from one gloriously odd moment to the next. Here’s what we CAN tell you though: The long awaited chapters 3 and 4 of DELTARUNE are now available. We’d tell you more about the adventures of (human) Kris, his (monster) school pal, Susie, and the Dark World prince, Ralsei, they meet along the way – but, really, that’s taking all the fun out of it.
INSIDE LOOKS:
- We’ll forgive you if you thought DELTARUNE was already out. The first two chapters have been available as a demo on Steam for years. Now, chapters 1-4 are ready with the promise of more coming…eventually.
- While there is a linear, chapter-based system letting you pick up from anywhere, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to go in order. Speaking of which, this is a parallel story to Undertale. You don’t need to play it, but it’s equally awesome (and incredibly cheap)!
- We’d give more of our own bullet points, but Toby Fox kinda did a fantastic job, so….
- A massive soundtrack and story written by Toby Fox!
- Meet new and endearing main characters, as well as familiar faces like Toriel, Sans, as more. Huh? Papyrus? No, he’s busy. Sorry
- Smooth and expressive pixel-animation by Temmie. She also has a new hat (in-game)
- Creative bullet-dodging based battles inspired by games like Touhou and Chrono Trigger.
- Jevilishly difficult hidden bosses.
- And…
- …
- … only 1 ending…?
DELTARUNE is available with a demo on Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG for PC as well as PlayStation 4 and 5, Switch and Switch 2.
