Doctor Who Showrunner Calls Fortnite Collaboration a “Complete Myth”

Doctor Who showrunner, Russell T Davies has said that the rumours of a Fortnite x Doctor Who collaboration is a complete myth.

Taking to his Instagram account, Davies responded to a comment asking about the collaboration by saying, “There isn’t one! It’s a complete myth, I’m afraid”.

A Doctor Who x Fortnite collaboration has been rumored for nearly 18 months at the time of writing, with dataminers in 2023 revealing leaked assets including a promo script.

The last leaks from popular Fortnite leakers revealed a newly-found event named “U.N.I.T Tardis Alert”. U.N.I.T refers to the Whoniverses’ fictional military organization called the Unified Intelligence Taskforce, whereas the Tardis is Doctor Who’s time machine.

Whatever the case may be, Davies’ public comment to shoot down the rumor does suggest that the collaboration somehow failed to come to fruition. However, it’s also entirely possible that the showrunner is lying in order to create a potential surprise for fans.

Doctor Who is set to return to our screen in May 2024, which will see Ncuti Gatwa’s era as the Fifteenth Doctor commence. So if we are expected to see a Fortnite x Doctor Who collab anytime soon, it’s likely to be around May.

Epic Games is yet to comment officially on a Fortnite x Doctor Who collaboration.

Fortnite is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android, macOS, and Microsoft Windows.

What do you think? Will we be getting a new Doctor Who collaboration in Fortnite? Let us know in the comments.
