Latest Fortnite Update Brings New Weapons, Event, and Skins

Epic rolled out the fourth major update of Chapter 4, Season 1 today, injecting the Fortnite landscape with a whole host of fresh content. This included all-new skins, a brand-new event, and a slew of weapons, augments, and other goodies for Fortnite fans to obsess over.

There’s not long left until the first season of the current chapter wraps up, but Epic is determined to pack as much as possible into what has seemed like such a short timeframe. It was back on December 4th that the fourth chapter dropped, bringing with it a new in-game engine, a revitalised map, and countless new crossovers and collaborations.

Now, in the latest Fortnite update… There’s more!

What’s Included with Fortnite’s 23.40 Update?

At the top of the Fortnite update table sits a brand new event – Most Wanted. Until February 28th, Fortnite players from around the world can compete in this limited-time event, and by doing so, they could unlock a free, exclusive skin. There are a series of quests to complete that are tied to the Most Wanted event, but if any player ticks those boxes, they’ll be rewarded with an impressive (and totally free) bundle:

From February 16th, a leaderboard will appear in-game, highlighting the players that are quite literally the Most Wanted in the game. In Most Wanted (the event), you’ll climb up the ‘Heat’ levels by playing the game as you normally would, but it’s a bittersweet scenario. While you get stronger and faster as your Heat rises, you’ll become increasingly invisible to other players.

Elsewhere, Epic has jammed a whole range of new weapons and augments into the ever-popular battle royale platform. Here’s what’s included:

Augments:

  • Exotic Grab Bag
  • Sniper Surplus
  • Keymaster
  • Last Shots

Weapons:

  • Heisted Breacher Shotgun
  • Heisted Explosive Assault Rifle
  • Heisted Accelerant Shotgun
  • Heisted Run ‘n’ Gun SMG
  • Heisted Blink Mag SMG

On top of the newly-added weapons, Epic has also seen fit to return a range of armaments that were previously locked inside the vault: Hand Cannon, Dual Pistols, Heavy Sniper, Hop Rock Dualies, Suppressed Pistol, and the Boom Sniper Rifle.

Finally, no more relying on just the DMR for those long shots.

And last, but by no means least, there’s an array of new skins making their way into the game following the latest Fortnite update. They were originally revealed by renowned Fortnite leaker, HYPEX, on Twitter:

For a late-season, out-of-the-blue patch, a lot of content sure is being included. Fortnite fans can download the update right now on all platforms.
