Fortnite’s PvE mode, Save the World, will become free-to-play on April 16, 2026, and the mode will be playable on Switch 2.
Epic Games Store has been making new announcements for Fortnite this week. We already saw V-Bucks prices increase, along with a change in Battle Pass costs. Now, the developers have announced that the game’s PvE mode will soon become free to play and will launch on new platforms.
Fortnite Save the World Will be Free to Play from April
Announced through a new blog post, Fortnite’s Save the World mode will be free-to-play next month, and interested players can register now to help hit the community goal. There are rewards for reaching new Milestones in the community goals. The first milestone will unlock at 300,000 registrations, the next at 700,000, and the last at 1 million registered players. Milestone 3’s reward is Snowstrike Hero, which is a Save the World-specific reward.
As mentioned earlier, Fortnite’s Save the World is a PvE mode, where players will be able to battle against hordes of monsters, explore an expansive, destructible world, and also use the building mechanics to create forts, craft weapons, find loot, and level up. Platers will be able to drop in with friends or matchmake with other players. You can also chain abilities for harder zones and grab the cash for loot and upgrades. Fortnite Save the World will be available on the following platforms:
- PlayStation 5
- PlayStation 4
- Xbox Series X|S
- Xbox One
- Xbox Cloud Gaming
- Nintendo Switch 2
- PC
- NVIDIA GeForce NOW
- Amazon Luna
