Bungie has revealed an overhaul to the Marathon Rewards Pass that’ll add three new Runner Shell styles to the Premium track and one to the free track. As you can imagine, the best new styles for the most popular Runner shells are being slotted into the Premium track…
To balance that up, a new shotgun style and profile emblem is also being added to the free track, but the rewards won’t be added until mid-April as part of the mid-season drop. This follows changes made to the game’s LUX system, which was a major point of contention amongst gamers exploring the new extraction shooter.
Changes Are Coming, But Not Soon
Bungie has revealed that the S1 Rewards Pass will get exclusive new Runner Shell styles, but they won’t hit the new extraction title until mid-April, which takes the wind out of the sails of the announcement a little. Per the team’s comments on social media:
When you spend in Marathon we want you to get great value – whether that’s the game, the deluxe edition, the Rewards Pass, or the in-game store. We’ve heard your feedback on the Rewards Pass, so this season we’re making the following improvements.
Triage will also get a new Arachne Shell style, which looks a bit better than the ones coming as part of the Rewards Pass. It’s a bit more colorful, at least. But perhaps that’s a good thing, as Marathon relies heavily on visibility, especially when enemy players are few and far between, and spotting them across the vast expanses of the maps or in dark corners is a tricky enough thing already.
By contrast (no pun intended), the Runner Styles being added to the free and premium tracks of the Rewards Pass are monochrome through and through.
In other news, players are busying themselves trying to solve the strange ARG that seems to point to the release date or method of Cryo Archive, the sought-after map that’s coming later this month.
