Here’s Why Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 is Called ‘Revelation’

During a new interview with Game Informer, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 director Naoki Hamaguchi discussed why the title has been set as ‘Revelation’. The director first discussed the game’s central theme, ‘Resolve’, which could extend to a lot of things, with one of them being the resolve of characters heading into their final battle.

The next installment will delve deeper into the characters’ emotions, and the game experience will vary based on players’ choices. The aim with this is to make “the characters feel closer than ever for the players.” However, Hamaguchi also revealed that ‘Resolve’ being the central theme and beginning with ‘RE’ was just a coincidence and was never really a ‘candidate’ for the title of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3.

The title “Final Fantasy 7 Revelation” was chosen because it best represents what the developers aimed to convey in the third installment of the series, according to the director. The team kept the title a secret for an extended period, as they wanted to handle it with caution. Only five or six individuals were aware of the title before its reveal, with the rest of the team learning about it during the Summer Game Fest presentation.

Explaining why it has been titled ‘Revelation’, Hamaguchi states that “it was more about revealing all these unanswered questions that the fans may have with Remake and Rebirth.” The director is aware that fans are wondering about how the trilogy is going to end, and this is their way of answering “that this is the end of everything, this is where everything gets revealed, and this is where you will find out all the answers.”
