During a recent stream, Final Fantasy 16’s producer teased a Switch 2 port for the game, saying, “Just Nintendo left.”
Square Enix has begun its multi-platform push, no longer skipping Xbox for its Final Fantasy instalments. The developers shadow dropped FF16 on Xbox this month and confirmed an FF7 Remake release for later this year. It seems that they won’t be stopping at Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam and have plans to release on the Nintendo Switch 2, too.
Final Fantasy 16 Producer Teases ‘Only Nintendo Left’

Spotted on ResetEra (via My Nintendo News), Final Fantasy 16 Producer teased the Switch 2 port towards the end of the ‘FINAL FANTASY XIV Letter from the Producer’ live stream. The producer, Naoki Yoshida, stated, “just Nintendo-san left” when talking about the Xbox port for Final Fantasy 16. The creative director, Kazutoyo Maehiro, also chimed in, stating he “will do his best”. This statement doesn’t confirm an FF16 Switch 2 port, but does tease a possibility.
The Final Fantasy 7 Remake series director, Naoki Hamaguchi, also spoke about releasing the entire trilogy on the Switch 2, stating that the new console has enough power to handle the series. Hamaguchi had stated “high hopes” to create a “strong partnership between Nintendo and the Final Fantasy brand”, and hopefully, this partnership results in other ports releasing for the platform.
In other news, an analytics firm claimed that Final Fantasy 16 is selling poorly on Xbox. What are your thoughts on Final Fantasy 16 producer teasing a Switch 2 port? Let us know below and join the official Insider Gaming forums discussion.
