During the new Creator’s Voice video, the director of Final Fantasy 7 Remake series, Naoki Hamaguchi, spoke about the entire trilogy releasing for the Nintendo Switch 2. Hamaguchi stated that he was “very intrigued” when seeing the Switch 2 for the first time, as it is an improvement over the previous console, allowing players to experience games in handheld and TV mode with “improved technical specs”.
“Enough Power for the FF7 Remake Series”
Hamaguchi explained that he felt the Nintendo Switch 2 “would have enough power to run the FINAL FANTASY VII remake series” he was creating, which “convinced” him to be involved. He added that the console’s power allowed them to “recreate Midgar with full specs.”
Towards the end of the video, Hamaguchi states that he has “high hopes” to create a “strong partnership between Nintendo and the Final Fantasy brand” and hopes that players are “looking forward to the Final Fantasy VII remake series on the Switch 2”.
Hamaguchi also spoke about why the FF 7 Remake series’ release on Switch 2 “means a lot” to him. He has been creating games for over two decades, but this is the first time he will make a game for a Nintendo system.
The director also looks forward to the different experiences players can have with Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade on Nintendo’s upcoming console, including discussing the game with friends when playing in handheld mode and using GameChat to talk with friends while sharing your game in real time. Additionally, Cloud and Sephiroth were already playable in Smash Bros. and with the Remake series being released on the Switch 2, he wants the “two generations to connect and share a bond over the characters.”
