A new game in the FAR CRY universe has passed its conception stage at Ubisoft and has entered development at Vantage Studios.
The new game comes in the wake of issues surrounding another FAR CRY game in development, codenamed Maverick, an extraction shooter that has since been canceled.
A New FAR CRY Game
Codenamed Kodiak, the new FAR CRY game is described as an open-world FPS where “player interactions and player-driven stories take center stage”.
Kodiak passed its conceptualization stage earlier this month and has been built on the foundations of Maverick, but thankfully, the series will now be leaving the extraction-shooter market behind… At least for now.
The game has been described as “really ambitious” by sources and is still several years away from its release.
Blackbird, the next mainline FAR CRY game, has also faced hurdles during development and has been repeatedly delayed internally due to issues. That being said, the game is now seemingly on a good path forward, and will also have a multiplayer component, where more than one player can experience the world together.
In an internal interview at Vantage Studios with Charlie Guillemot, Guillemot described Blackbird as “honestly impressive” and as “Act One”, suggesting that several mainline FAR CRY games with similar concepts are planned if Blackbird releases to a positively high reception.
Kodiak marks another game in Vantage Studios’ pipeline, helping Assassin’s Creed, FAR CRY, and Rainbow Six Siege dominate as dominant IPs with different experiences for different audiences.

Extraction shooters are the worst kind of games. Who asked for extraction shooter? By the way where is Ghost Recon Project Over?
Tbh. Been with far cry a long time now since the beginning when the ex-soldier became the predator. But if im being honest, i think a resetbof the saga needs to happen…
We need a game more like fae cry 2 was. Hardcore, ambitious & acts of realism instead of arcady. And make it to where the game starts anew with future games connecting each far cry game together. I think that would be a better move for Blackbird//Maverick.

In terms of AC, i would love to see 2 ACs that take place in WW2 with a mission to assassinate hitler & his assassins & another one in modern day where we have to play as a modern day assassin likevthe glypse we got in Unity of the ww2 attack of nazi paris & desmond miles modern day and bring back the glorified building concepts we had in ezios storyline

Rainbow Six now
With this, yall know that siege is NOT a tom clancy game. Every book he ever wrote had a counter part to the game. Siege is not part of that in the way yall made it. Way to destroy a mans legacy.
We needed patriots & its time you delivered that game with a 8 player coop with a 4 player assault team ‘alpha’ & 4 player support team ‘bravo’ for that game.

Finally Ghost Recon
I know yall are doing a new GR, i just hope you move into a FPS version of the game & include a 8 player coop game where ever the setting is & it picks up on aurora as the intro mission to get us off of auroa & pushes us somewhere different as an interactive story.
Thats all i got for now tho
I agree that Far Cry needsto have something in its story that is a continuous story line with its games. Having every game be its own thing and none of the stories connecting was not a good idea. It doesnt give anything for someone to become a fan of. I have played all of the Far Cry games too, they always came off as games very similar in nature to the Just Cause franchise, just games to go buck wild in. Which is fun. and I am glad to hear that they are going with a game simliar to how its always been instead of an extraction shooter. LoL Extraction shooter from Far Cry… Who the Hell came up with that? What also is funny, is this new game that is “Ambitious” sounds very much like the exact same gameplay style the Far Cry games have always had haha. You do a mission, get some narrative, do another mission.
Yes!! The original idea of timed extraction shooter sounded awful for a game such as Far Cry. The exploration is the best part about the Far Cry games. Without it, it just wouldn’t be a fun playable game. I also liked the skill trees introduced for 5 and ND, if they could continue that with hunting/crafting on 3, it would be great. Still no love for 6 though
