The Esports World Cup continues to unfold in Paris, and recently, another champion was crowned. In the Street Fighter 6 category, a 15-year-old competitor by the name of Jaime ‘Craime’ Bustos stepped up to the plate and defeated all comers to receive a massive $250,000 prize and to set a record as the youngest champion in the history of the Esports World Cup.
Additionally, Craime has secured qualification to compete at the Capcom Cup 13. His win came after defeating some of the world’s most talented FGC players, including MenaRD and Yamaguchi, both EVO champions.
Setting Records at the Esports World Cup
Jaime ‘Craime’ Bustos’ victory is important for a few reasons. First, it represents the global diversity of the Esports World Cup, with a Chilean competitor having an opportunity to compete on the biggest stage in the gaming space, winning a landmark prize and having his name etched in the history books.
It also ensured Bustos a spot in the annals of esports, being the youngest champion in the EWC’s relatively short history.
The young competitor stepped in to represent Team Falcons at the Street Fighter 6 tournament, picking up some much-needed Club Championship points that pushed Falcons back into the top spot, eyeing up back-to-back wins and the massive reward.
Craime’s grand final performance was a stunner, producing a scoreline of 5-2. He was facing off against Hibiki, a Japanese veteran and a man twice the age of Craime. This now sets Craime up for a stellar run, provided he can maintain this momentum.
