Epic Games has just revealed a mighty change coming to the operating model for the Epic Games Store. The team has announced that, from June 2025, any Epic Games Store payments processed will be done so with a 0% revenue share up to the first $1 million. Once that threshold has been hit, an 88% / 12% split will kick in.
This will mean that developers listing their games on the Epic Games Store will be able to soak up the full proceeds of $1 million in revenue without Epic Games taking a single penny of it.
But Wait, There’s More
Alongside the news that Epic Games will permit developers to earn $1 million without paying any store fees, the team revealed that webshops are being introduced for developers.
Here’s the lowdown from a press release:
In June 2025, we are releasing a new feature enabling developers to launch their own webshops hosted by the Epic Games Store. These webshops can offer players out-of-app purchases, as a more cost-effective alternative to in-app purchases, where Apple, Google, and others charge exorbitant fees.
With new legal rulings in place, developers will be able to send players from games to make digital purchases from webshops on any platform that allows it, including iOS in the European Union and United States.
Further to that, any players shopping in Epic Webshops will accrue a 5% Epic Rewards bonus on all purchases. It’s not just the developers who win here.
Epic Games has long been an advocate for rewarding developers and players. The UEFN ecosystem on Fortnite has allowed creators to earn big bucks while entertaining players worldwide, and the Epic Games Store regularly gives away some top-tier games for free while simultaneously supporting developers.
