EA Tease New Open World ‘The Grounds’ For EA FC 27 Ahead Of Reveal

Just 24 hours before EA FC 27’s full gameplay reveal, EA has started teasing its brand-new open-world mode, The Grounds. The social hub is expected to let players freely explore, take part in mini-games, customise their avatars, and interact with other players in a shared football-themed world.

The tease comes via the game’s newly unveiled Standard Edition cover, which once again features Kylian Mbappé. While the French star remains the focus, the tagline, “Built from The Grounds up,” strongly suggests that the background artwork offers the first official glimpse at the highly anticipated mode.

More EA FC 27 Features Teased

Some members of the community have also shared a range of new promotional images ahead of the gameplay trailer, with all of them centred around The Grounds. Have a scroll through the ones shared by Bateson below:

The mode has been the subject of leaks for months, with FGZ first reporting on its existence back in November. Those reports claimed the hub would be divided into districts inspired by famous footballing nations, and the latest artwork appears to support that idea, featuring architecture reminiscent of locations such as Paris and London.

Scattered throughout the world are a variety of football pitches where players can jump into different activities. Alongside returning street football experiences similar to Volta, players will reportedly be able to take part in fresh mini-games, including football tennis and other casual challenges.

Outside of The Grounds, EA has teased several additional features. One of the biggest is The Gallery, a new collection book that rewards players for completing themed sets of cards based on clubs, leagues, and competitions.

Long-time fans may also spot a familiar face, as Alex Hunter appears to be making his return. The former Journey protagonist can be seen parachuting into one of the promotional images, hinting at some form of involvement in EA FC 27—perhaps he’s an avatar for The Grounds?

It’s not long before we see more of the open world, and hopefully some gameplay is shared in the reveal trailer tomorrow. Check it out below, and make sure you don’t miss it.
