New EA FC titles have typically been released with two editions: the Standard Edition and the Ultimate Edition. If you wanted early access and some extra FC Points, the Ultimate Edition has always been the way to go, but this year, EA are upping the ante with the introduction of Ultimate Plus.
Costing $149.99, or £139.99, this evolution of the premium edition marks EA FC 27 as the most expensive game in EA’s history, and it’s only available for purchase until August 31, 2026. It begs the question: what could the edition possibly include to make it worth the price, and how does it compare to the Ultimate Edition?
Well, when you compare the two, it becomes obvious fairly quickly. If you’re looking to buy a more premium edition of EA FC 27, but can’t decide between the Ultimate and Ultimate Plus Editions, hopefully this article can help you make an informed purchase.
What’s The Difference Between Ultimate & Ultimate Plus In EA FC 27?
Whilst both editions will grant you seven days of early access to EA FC 27, the Ultimate Plus Edition ramps up the rewards for Ultimate Team players significantly.
The graphic provided by EA makes it a lot easier to digest, and you can quite clearly see the comparisons in content. Before diving into them, though, it’s important to clarify the prices:

So, for $50 more than the Ultimate Edition, you can buy the Ultimate Plus Edition and receive:
- 4,000 more FC Points, across a further two month period
- Premium Pass for Seasons 1 through 5, instead of just Season 1
- A Hall of FUT Player Pick
- Select Evolutions for EA FC 26
It’s a notable increase in content, and now that you’re aware of the differences between the two, it’s time to figure out which edition is the right one for you.
Which EA FC 27 Edition Should You Buy?
Ultimately, if you’re not a diehard fan of EA FC 27 and don’t plan to play the game for the long term, then the Ultimate Plus Edition probably won’t be for you.
The additional Season Passes alone almost pay off the differences between the two Ultimate Editions, and the extra 4,000 FC Points only add to the benefits even more. If you decide to skip the Ultimate Plus, but then buy those benefits later down the line, you’ll wind up spending more money in the long term.
But the real question is how much you plan to play the game. A lot of the fanbase goes hard for the first month or two, and then enjoyment dips before long. You’d be disappointed to spend $150 on a game for over five months’ worth of benefits, only to really play the game long enough to claim a handful of them.
Add to that the limited nature of Ultimate Plus, with EA trying to employ fear of missing out amongst the user base, and it’s undoubtedly a front-loaded decision. That said, I’d suggest that if you’re not going to play the game religiously, you’ll be more than fine just sticking with the Standard Edition—or the Ultimate Edition if you want early access and that extra Evolution slot.
