The PlayStation Network suffered another outage on July 24, and it left millions of gamers unable to log into PSN services or play online games. Find out more about what’s happening and the possible cause.
You can feel the panic and chaos in the air when PSN goes down. It doesn’t happen too often, thankfully, but it’s a definite inconvenience.
The system famously went down in 2025, and it’s sort of happening again in 2026 with a new worldwide PSN outage.
Why is PlayStation Network Down Right Now? July 24 PSN Outage
Sony has yet to officially address why the PlayStation Network is down on July 24, 2026, and it’s left everyone in the dark about what’s caused this and when it will return.
Is this a DDoS attack? Is it maintenance that hasn’t been announced? You currently know as much as we do right now.

Fan theories are already spreading around social media like wildfire, with one theory that this is an attack, from Anonymous or someone else, in response to the disc controversy.
Another circulating belief is that Dark Storm Team may have attacked Sony, but all of this is speculation until there is official proof or confirmation from Sony.
For now, we’ll have to assume it’s probably a technical difficulty that the company’s best engineers are working on quickly.
As of 13:44 BST on July 24, neither Sony nor PlayStation has posted on X or updated anyone on what’s going on.

Either they expect the issue to be resolved quickly, or it’s just radio silence on Sony’s part, in a time when the trust between the player base and company is not at an all-time high.
This follows the shocking announcement that Sony will stop producing discs for new PlayStation Games in 2028.

When Will PSN Servers be Back Online? (July 24, 2026 Outage)
Until Sony comes out and addresses the outage, there’s no ETA on when we can expect the PlayStation Network to be up and running again.
Quite simply, keep this page open. We will be checking our own PS5 devices to see if PSN’s services come back online and everything is operational again.
Also, we’ll update you if there is a statement from Sony.
